Phylogenetic Relationships of Species of the Genus Brachyrhaphis ( Poeciliidae ) Inferred from Partial Mitochondria 1 DNA Sequences
نویسنده
چکیده
Phylogenetic relationships were reconstructed using partial mitochondrial DNA sequence data for the cytochrome b gene among all nine described species of Bra&flaphis and several members of the tribe Gambusiini. We included three of the more than 40 members of the genus Gambusia and Belonesox belimnus, the third, monotypic genus of the tribe Gambusiini. Xiphophorus malinche served as the outgroup. Phylogenetic trees were generated using maximum-parsimony, maximumlikelihood, and neighbor-joining analyses. Hypotheses of relationships withii the tribe and genus Brachyrhaphis made by previous authors were tested. The existence of a slimand a deep-bodied clade within the monophyletic genus BraFhflaphis was supported. Bmchyrhaphis hariwegi is the basal member of the deep-bodied clade, whereas B. punctifer is the basal member of the slim-bodied clade.

متن کاملPhylogenetic relationships of the commercial marine shrimp family Penaeidae from Persian Gulf
Phylogenetic relationships among all described species (total of 5 taxa) of the shrimp genus Penaeus, were examined with nucleotide sequence data from portions of mitochondrial gene and cytochrome oxidase subunit I (COI). There are twelve commercial shrimp in the Iranian coastal waters. The reconstruction of the evolution phylogeny of these species is crucial in revealing stock identity that ca...

متن کاملAnalysis of mitochondrial DNA sequences of Turcinoemacheilus genus (Nemacheilidae Cypriniformes) in Iran
Members of Nemacheilidae Family, Turcinoemacheilus genus were subjected to molecular phylogenetic analysis in this study. This genus was reported in 2009 to inhabit in Karoon River drainage, in contrary to previous assumption that it was the endemic species in the Basin of Tigris River. It was sampled from three stations placed in different tributaries in Karoon drainage and evaluated to unders...
متن کاملPhylogenetic Assessment of Some Species of Crocus Genus Using DNA Barcoding
DNA barcoding is a simple method for the identification of any species using a short genetic sequence from a standard genome section. The present study aimed at examining the nuclear and chloroplast diversity as well as the phylogenetic relationships of eight species of saffron including four spring-flowering and five autumn-flowering species from different parts of Iran, using the nuclear barc...
